Object Details in the Scope Search Panel

The Search Scope displays the following object details:

  • Object icon
  • The object name, including the top-level folder location
  • Document count contained within the object
  • Total items included in the Search Scope
  • Total documents included in the Search Scope

The object name includes the top-level folder location and name. To ensure the name is prominent and always visible, only show the top-level folder and display any sub-folders as an ellipsis. For example:

  • Charlie/Workflow/Billing/Client Billing will display as:
    • Charlie/.../Client Billing
  • Jason/Enron large docs will display as
    • Jason/Enron large docs

Hover over an object name to see the full location path in the alt text. For example:

Hover over Charlie/.../Client Billing to see:

  • Charlie/Workflow/Billing/Client Billing

The total number of items (i.e., objects) in the Search Scope displays. This number updates as objects are added and removed. If the Search Scope is empty, "All Documents" displays. The total number of unique documents across all items in the Search Scope displays. This number updates as objects are added and removed. If the Search Scope is empty, display the number of documents the user has permission to view/access. If there are more items in the Search Scope than can be displayed in the vertical space, there is a vertical scroll bar to indicate you must scroll to see all items. If an object name, location, or document count is updated, these updates display in the Search Scope after refreshing the application. When collapsed, the Search Scope only displays the number of items and the total number of documents.

Search Scope Refresh

The Search Scope automatically refreshes at the start of every new browser session. Saved Searches and Relativity Folders are not static. This means that Saved Searches and Relativity Folders in the Search Scope can become "stale" and out of date. Click the Refresh button to refresh the Saved Searches and Relativity Folders in the Search Scope during a browser session. While the Search Scope is refreshing, a search cannot be run; also, the Search Scope cannot be refreshed while a search is running.
